The World of Horse Racing ;; Year 0008
About UsI have been working with things like this for a good while and I believe I need to involve the public more openly in a SIM-type game that is based on only one style. TWHR is a horse racing SIM, obviously, that is designed to be realistic. Horses can, however, be any natural colors (sabino, overo, ect) rather than just solid colors. All race horses here are going to be in a lineart by JNFerrigno and on a reference sheet designed by myself. I don't think I need to list specific rules, just follow CS rules and do not ask me to be staff. Ever. Below will be more information on how things will be run here.Barns, Jockeys, and Trainers
Barns cost $200,000 to
start and $50,000 a year to maintain. If you do not have the money when
the year changes your barn will be frozen and you can not do anything
with horses until you pay, at which point you will have to sell horses
to buy money from me. To become a trainer you must buy a license which
costs $50,000. Trainers must be dedicated to one barn (can always
change) and can train any of the horses in that barn. Trainers get 10%
of winnings of their horses. Jockey's must also have a license which
costs $25,000. They can ride at any barn and any horses however they
can only ride one horse per race. The Races
1. Maiden: A race for horses that have never won before. Before the race starts a ticket can be turned in to claim the horse which means after the race you own
the horse. Multiple tickets may be turned in for a horse and if a horse
has more than 1 claim ticket it's owner will be drawn randomly. The
Maiden races are 3,000's, 5,000's, 10,000's, and 15,000's. The idea is
to enter your horse in the highest money race they it can win, that way
you have less chance of your horse being claimed. To claim a horse you
must PM me (do not give a hint on this thread) with the name of the
horse and your character's names. | Joining UsPost your character's name (first and last) and gender. You can make up to 4 characters however each will have their own money
and you must be fair when the characters interact. You receive $2,000
when you join(and 5 free horses), but there are quicker ways to increase your money. I
create all the horses here and devote a lot of time to this so I believe
it is fair that I can ask for something in return, and this way you can
increase your money. If you do not want to pay, that is fine. Send me
a trade saying this if for TWHR money and here is how much you can
get...1 WL Common = $10,000 1 WL Uncommon = $30,000 1 WL Rare = $60,000 1 WL Very Rare = $100,000 1 WL OMG So Rare = $500,000 After you are prepared you have a few choices on how to start. First, you can check out a Maiden Race and try to claim a horse. Second, you can pay someone to breed two of their horses and give you the offspring and wait for it to grow up. Third, you can pay the bank to import a custom horse for $1,000. Each option is a good choice, however you need to know that each year lasts 3 real months. Preparing For a Race
When a race is
announced you have a lot more work than just joining. It is suggested
that the owner and trainer agree on entering the horse into this race
because those are the two people who will most likely know the horses
the best. Once they agree you must find a jockey to ride your horse.
Races are announced on Sunday's and you need to decide on your jockey by
Tuesday and PM that jockey. The jockey's may have a few people asking
for them, and they must decide and PM the owner of the horse by
Wednesday. Thursday is the day that entry forms must be sent by.
Friday I will announce the numbers of the horses that are entered and
betting and claiming opens up after those are announced. Betting and
Claims must be PMed to me for privacy! Saturday night betting and
claiming and closed and Sunday the races are run and winnings are given
out. |
Codes to perform any and all tasks can be
found on the main thread on Chicken Smoothie.
FAQ
...by HollowedAngel... - How does claiming work?
...by Riddle'... - Claim races are called Maiden races. There are 4 Maiden races. $3k Maiden, $5k Maiden, $10k Maiden, and $15k Maiden. Any horse entered in this race can be claimed by anyone (except it's current owner). The name of the race determines how much you have to pay for the horse. Before the race starts you can PM me a Claim Form for a horse. If you end up getting that horse then the amount (3, 5, 10, 15k) will be deducted from you. If you have a more specific question about it please let me know.
...by HollowedAngel... - How do you get stats to win races?
...by Riddle'... - Well, when you get a horse created it's stats are generated randomly using random.org. It has a 'low' stat and a 'high' stat and that horse can reach speeds anywhere in between those two lines. Same for stamina. When you breed horses the stats are a combination of the parents and a little bit random. Sometimes you get a bad race horse. At which point you can put for brood/stud or request to have removed from your barn. Sometimes bad stat horses end up actually siring/throwing magnificent racing babies when crossed with decent racers. If you have a more specific question about it please let me know.
...by HollowedAngel... - How do you bring up your stats so you can win?
...by HollowedAngel... - How are races decided?
...by Riddle'... - You can not technically increase your stats because there is a set low and high, however horses tend to have a distance that they run best at. You have to guess at the distance but stamina helps determine it. I am going to try to answer your last two questions together... Because random.org is used also for this set, but stats also play a big part. It is rather hard for me to 100% explain but I will do my best. For the start of the race I use random.org to determine which horse has the best start and which has the worst. The jockey also determines this. The higher earning jockey has a tendency to have better rides. For every furlong I determine a time for each horse using their speed and, as the distance increases, their stamina. A horse with high speed but low stamina may lead the pack for a few furlongs, but will be overtaken in the stretch. A horse with medium speed and high stamina will most likely do good in longer slow-paced races. Any other questions let me know!
...by Kestral&Leo... - How do you actually join?
...by Riddle'... - Just post saying that you want to join and tell me your characters name. First and last name. And gender.
...by Kestral&Leo... - Can horses we buy here be used by us as characters outside of here?
...by Riddle'... - No, these horses are to be used here and here only because if you enter a Maiden race you can lose your horse.
...by HollowedAngel... - What are the benefits of buying a barn?
...by Riddle'... - If you buy a barn you can choose your trainer. If you board then you get the trainer of the barn. More features will come if we get more people!
...by HollowedAngel... - Can we buy/trade horses?
...by Riddle'... - Yes you can!
...by HollowedAngel... - Once we've entered a maiden race, can we not then keep our horses as characters seeing as we won't be losing them in a maiden race again?
...by Riddle'... No you still can't because all breeding and such has to be taken place here. You can always write stories for your horses if you want and post them elsewhere but you have to link to this thread and you can not breed them to any other horses or use them in any other games or anything of the such. Post them elsewhere yes, use them elsewhere no.
